Ash Shaker Kitchen | Tabasco House
Completed: 2024 | Location: Kerhonkson, New York | Scope: Design-build; cabinetry and millwork
Our clients, a design-savvy couple in the hospitality business, wanted a kitchen for their second home that celebrated the rustic character of the space, while offering functional, modern conveniences. Old Mine proposed a mix of open and closed shelving with craftsman-style cabinetry. Old Mine stain-matched the ash cabinet exteriors and hardwood countertops to coordinate with the room’s knotty pine wall paneling. The kitchen’s stainless-steel appliances remain unpaneled for material contrast against the woody backdrop. Here, much of the magic lies in the details, like the hardwood-slatted screen that helps to separate the kitchen from the entry, and the matching millwork shroud that eases the transition between the metal vent hood and the wood ceiling. Maintaining an organic, lived-in look on the outside, the cabinets are equipped with modern interiors, featuring a range of custom pull-outs and all the amenities of a functional high-end kitchen.
